Jolly Sailor

What a busy week at The Raft Foundation in our run up to Christmas. Last week we received an incredible cheque donation from the Students, Parents and Staff of St Mary's C of E Primary School in Haslingden. This donation will be going towards our Christmas Day Dinner Hamper Scheme in partnership with Riley's Butchers of Crawshawbooth. A big thank you from us. One of our volunteers led us onto the Galaxy Hot Chocolate on line competition. To give us a chance of getting £300.00 just vote on line, go on its easy. On Friday we received a visit from Philip Gaffey Managing Director of Gaffey Technical Services Ltd. Who with partner Paula made the decision not to send out Christmas Cards to clients this year but to donate to The Raft Foundation instead. Our thanks to Philip, Paula and the Gaffey Technical Services team for your incredible donation and support. On Friday we also welcomed Labour Party parliamentary candidate for Rossendale and Darwin Mr Will Straw along with John McDermott commentator from The Financial Times. After a tour and a bit of present wrapping we enjoyed a lively discussion with topics including the effects of food and fuel poverty, employment opportunities within the Valley and what we love about the place in which we live. Our friends at Camfil pulled on their Christmas jumpers in support of The Raft Foundation this week. Folks your ongoing support for our Foundation and our community of Rossendale is an inspiration, thank you do much. On Saturday we welcomed to Hardmans Mill from Weaveability Ltd Managing Director Steve Yates, partner Sara and son Ollie. Instead of providing gifts of thanks to clients this year the company decided to inform all clients that a donation of gifts would be made to The Raft Foundation supporting our work within the Community of Rossendale. Our donation point at The Jolly Sailor in support of our Christmas Day Dinner Hamper got a boost last night after a football card went around the pub resulting in £40.00 "going in" Thanks to Dave, Jackie and all the regulars new and old. We had some amazing feedback on our Facebook page this week from a contributor: " I would just like to say I passed the couple delivering the food hamper stuff this morning near xxxxxx in Bacup. I called in to the people as you left and they were crying with happiness they could now eat at Christmas. Whilst I was so happy for them it is sad that people are facing this situation. Thank you all for the joy your are bringing to the less fortunate. Shame on our Government for allowing this to happen. Keep up the good work . Namaste"
